On October 26, 2021, the 20th Bundestag was constituted. At the halfway point of the legislative period, we take stock with the BCW Influence Index: who are the most influential federal politicians in the public perception - and who are the most influential parliamentarians in the Bundestag?
The Influence Index Germany is a data-based ranking of the members of the German Bundestag. The data was collected between July 2022 and June 2023.
Politics has a different meaning for individual politicians
One of the most important findings of the Influence Index: Members of the German Bundestag have different understandings of politics. In their daily work as members of parliament, this means that they set different priorities in their activities.
On the one hand, there are the members of the Bundestag whose understanding of politics is shaped by their work in committees, in plenary debates or through questions to the government.
On the other hand, there are members of parliament who try to generate or influence debates through their public visibility. This is expressed, for example, through regular TV appearances, interviews, but also through a strong online presence through their own postings in social media.
